At ACS since 2021

As?Senior Scientist?in Health Services Research, Qinjin, Fan, PhD, collaborates with other researchers at the ÃÛÌÒ´«Ã½ Cancer Society (ACS) to both measure spatial?variations?in access to cancer?care?and?explore?the spatial-temporal patterns of cancer outcomes. She?investigates?their associations?with potential risk factors,?as well as?with?social determinants of health and health policies.?Health Services Research is part of the?Surveillance & Health Equity Research Department.

Her research aims to?inform?the?efforts to?eliminate?systematic barriers that?contribute?to inequity?across the?cancer care continuum.

Research focus and accomplishments

Fan¡¯s research?focuses on?the national patterns of:

  • Cancer?care?accessibility?and?how it affects cancer outcomes
  • Health?disparities?
  • Housing insecurity among patients with cancer

She uses?geospatial?techniques?in?cancer?health services research, investigating geographic variations in?cancer?prevention, diagnosis, treatment,?and survival. Her research also quantifies and evaluates the impact of?factors?that contribute to cancer disparities, including socioeconomic status,?race/ethnicity, and health insurance.
